New Borla Exhaust Install

Got my new muffler/pipe put on last night. It wasn't too hard, but I did have to drop the t-case skid plat so I could get to the bolts holding it on. I wouldn't have done that, but it made it soooo much easier to get to when I finally had to break out the hacksaw on the one bolt that broke in half before I got it appart. :purple: The new Borla went in pretty easy though. I got it all back together and fired it up. It sounds good enough. I'm not real crazy about it at idle, but it's noticeably quiter on the road unless I put my foot into it. Then it sounds like a cross between a piped V-6 and a rice rocket. I've got about a 1/4 tank of gas in it right now and I plan using that to get all the hot rodding out of my system. Then I'm going to fill it up and drive normally to see if the mileage improves at all. I'm hoping it will!

Yes I do have the Borla header. The only thing I didn't do was replace the catalytic converter. I'm starting to like the sound a lot more now that I'm driving it.

I plan on getting a header soon (my stocker is cracked) and I have been seriously thinking about Borla. How do you like it? Do think it is worth the $?

I didn't notice much difference with the header. Once I put the muffler on you can totally tell the difference. It almost feels like a brand new Jeep. One thing I would suggest is if you can afford it have it done at a shop. I did mine first and couldn't get it completely tight. It had major exhaust leaks. I took it apart again and still couldn't get it done much tighter. I just gave up and took it to my local shop and the guy there was able to fix it up nice. Of course he has access to a lot more tools and experience then I do. If you do decide to do it yourself, spend a few extra $$$ and get a good gasket. The paper one Borla supplies isn't worth $hit. Use gasket silicone too. Everywhere I called said not to even my 4x4 shop. However, when I picked it up from them they used it!

No, I was going to have a shop do it. Iwas afraid of it leaking if I had done it.
Thanks for the info and advice, it's much appreciated! And congrats on your new exhaust system
