See I shouldn't open my mouth when I don't have a clue. Mine is a 231 and I had to replace it a while back, that's only how I knew about the connector.
You probably have an electrical connector on you transfer case that turns the light on, at least mine does. Look for a loose connector, push them in to make sure they mate.

It's a 1994 Cherokee Sport. I don't see any screws to take the steering column apart. I'm gonna take the sterring wheel off tonight to see if I can get to it. I just don't know how the rest of the column comes apart.
My biggest problem right now is that I can't get the key to go into the ignition. Anyone have a solution? Also if I need to change out the ignition switch how can I do it without being able to turn the ignition over? Thanks for any and all replies.
It was my sensor. I got one at autozone for $50, they can test them there too. Advance Auto wanted $118 for the thing, I hope it doesn't got out again soon. Also while changing it I found it easier to remove the front driveshaft for the added arm room. I wish I could have had a second elbow...
