Looking for Cherokee (XJ) lower control arms, and 3 inch lif

1057318 Ah, I'm not going to bring up an old can of worms...I was having a bad day ya know! But, at least I didn't beat the dog...kick a dent in my XJ...etc, etc...I already appologized....tis all good. [addsig]

85 XJ to 86 Ford F250 leaf spring conversion possible?

1056192 Remember, Thanks for the input...my reason for doing a leaf spring conversion on the front would be to compensate for the added weight from an LS1 install. If installing an LS1 I'd obviously have to beef up the front suspension...any ideas on using non-stock or aftermarket coil...

    01 Chevrolet LS1...85 XJ mating

1056193 Remember, Well, it still might be a $1500 XJ...but, it would be a torquey $1500 XJ...A quote comes to mind from someone who when asked why he wanted to climb Mt. Everest... "Because it was there" :) I wouldn't be looking to climb Mt. Everest with it...but, I'd want it to climb...

85 XJ to 86 Ford F250 leaf spring conversion possible?

1056196 Thanks for the input... I realize it's going to be quite a bit of time and...more than likely a pretty big hit monetarily too, but I probably would never undertake such a project if I didn't have a family friend who owned the machine/welding shop with 30 years of experience. Any custom...

    01 Chevrolet LS1...85 XJ mating

1056283 I'm not going for fast...I'm going for torque. Bottom end on this project is the key for me, I don't see to many people flying around on rocky trails at 150 mph. :) My friend who owns the machine shop has stuffed Cadiliac front wheel drive based v8s into 7 Pontiac Fieros...made a sand...

85 XJ to 86 Ford F250 leaf spring conversion possible?

1056285 Looks like a leaf spring front end at this point...coils don't seem to fit into my plans as far as doing the kind of off roading I'd be doing anyway. I'm not a rock crawler kind of guy, more like going up steep moutain trails in WV and VA in the George Washington National Forest. Quite...

    01 Chevrolet LS1...85 XJ mating

1056589 OK, Ok...I'm beaten down!!! :) The LS1 is going to go in the Camaro...and I think to myself...why did I buy it in the first place, I'm a Ford guy. :) Ok, being realistic here, I just found and purchased a 37,000 mile 94 Camaro 3.4. Going to throw it on in, no fuel injection...just a...

33's and 4.5 inches of lift

1056636 Good advice! Thanks you guys... I think I'll go with the 3 inches and stick with 31s then. If I seem to get some nasty rubbing I'll just do some trimming on the flares. My concern was with having to go with a SYE, a transfer case drop...a lot of stuff I didn't really want to get into...

    XJ test pipe

1056764 Not to be a stick in the mud, but do you guys have emissions inspections where you are? I'm not condoning anything illegal...but, I've heard of people gutting cats...trust me, it's not that hard. And looks legal too. :)[addsig]

Serious accident involving a fellow jeeper near me

1056816 Wow...he is a lucky guy for living through that! Hope he pulls through ok! I've got an XJ and would think that I'd be safer in a hard top, but...I can't help but think roll cage for even more support!!! Viffer...[addsig]

33's and 4.5 inches of lift

1057105 I'm sticking with the 31s I already have on it...it's not on the road yet, so I don't think I have to worry about rubbing while moving it around in my driveway. :) I finally got the materials to do my 3 inch coil spacers. Doing a homemade setup that I saw posted here on the net, once I...

    A xj With a diesel...where can i get one?

1057110 Love the quote about the turbo diesel vs. the 4.0..."IT IS FANTASTIC COMPARED TO THE 4.0 LITRE GUZZLY PETROL". But hey, when you live in a country where gas is fairly cheap (even now), compared to other places, why not go with a guzzly petrol engine? :) Allen...[addsig]

    A xj With a diesel...where can i get one?

1057112 Actually...back in the 80's when Renault/AMC started production, there were 2.1 litre Renault turbo diesels installed in a few XJs, mostly for export to Canada and Europe... Here is a link to a review on them...at least in the Australian market... I'd like to try one just for the fun of...

GM 2.8 carb to fuel injection possible?

1054177 Thanks for the info...I've been doing some looking into it and it appears that it would be a major hassle. I'm thinking a 4.0 swap would be the best option at this point if the keep the XJ. I might do what a lot of you in here have recommended...just buy an XJ with a 4.0 already in it...
