    Need help w/ timing a 1985 Cherokee

It has the 2.8l engine w/ manual transmission. It belongs to a friend, so I don't have the Jeep or the Chilton's with me. Chilton's says to pull the vac advance, but there is no vac advance...as usual, Chilton's is absolutely useless. So, how do you go about timing this vehicle?

    1979 Waggy, 360...Needs rebuild.

Yup, this old engine is getting tired. Consuming a some oil and losing oil pressure occasionally. First, I'm not rich. My budget will be...$3000ish. I thought about finding a used LS1/4l60e combo. I do not have any idea if it would work and I do not have any idea how the transfer case...

    No Spark.

1979 Jeep Wagoneer, 360 V8. I have the official shop manual. I'm getting no spark. The coil resistance was 7.2 kohms, so I replaced it. Still no spark. Distributor or ECU probably? I tested the output of the distributor and I think I did it right because my meter (Fluke 83) was fluctuating...

    1984 Cherokee clutch problem

My friend just replaced the clutch in his Cherokee and it won't disengage. We've been trying to bleed it, and it seems ok (maybe a little light, but I don't know this vehicle). It just doesn't disengage when the engine is running. Any ideas? Bad slave cyl? he's out there taking the transmission...

    Speedometer bounce

1979 Waggy w/ cruise control. I pulled both speedo cables and they looked great- no fraying or anything. I lubed them with white lithium grease and reinstalled. The bounce got a little better, but not much. Is the white grease not heavy enough? Should I use wheel bearing grease, or what? Or...

    Replacing steering stabilizer.

1979 Waggy. I am going to replace my steering stabilizer. I bought a new one from Napa and it has these dark-colored, thick, washer-looking things in the package. Two of them have a bevel and the others are just thick and flat. I have the shop manual for my Waggy and it does not show these...

1979 Wagoneer "square" headlight buckets needed!

I'm in need of 2 headlight buckets for my '79 Waggy. I actually just need the side-to-side adjusters, so, if you have those, or a different solution, please let me know!8)

Headlight part needed for my 1979 Wagoneer.

Hey guys! On both of my headlights the side-to-side plastic adjuster has broken. I can not find a replacement anywhere. I've even talked to BJ's and they said that I need to find used headlight buckets in a junk yard. That would be great, but we have exactly one junkyard up here, they have...

A few pics of my Wagoneer.

I love this old beasty. It's just about the best $800 I've ever spent! I took the back seat out so my dog has more room- and I don't want to rip it. I also installed the front seat cover. Eventually I will put in a different front seat. I also installed the gauges the other day. Other than that...

Tailgate says "Cherokee" on my Wagoneer.

1979 Wagoneer. Did all of them say "Cherokee" on the tailgate? Or, has my tailgate been replaced? Actually, I need to take some pics of my toy to post 'em up. I'll do that today and post pics of this tailgate as well.

    Differential identification?

How can I determine which diffs my '79 Wagoneer has? Apparently there are 2 choices- Dana 44 or Dana 60, correct? Which is more desirable? In particular I would like to know which rear-end it has because I am going to figure out a cheap disk brake conversion if one isn't readily available.

    WANTED- 1979 Wagoneer steering column.

Hey Mud People! I need a tilt steering column for my 1979 Wagoneer. It needs to be tight and I will pay $100 including shipping. I can have mine rebuilt locally for $150, so I will probably just go that route, but I thought I'd throw this up and see what happens. Thanks

I gotta ask a "basic" question...

Sorry, I know most of you will roll your eyes, but remember, everybody starts somewhere. This is my first 4WD vehicle with locking hubs- I have an Eddie Bauer Expedition, but as you know, there are no manual locking hubs on it. First- I tried to find this info myself so I would not be...

    Wide track vs. narrow track?

I'm looking at BJ's Off-Road site for stuff and while looking at a bumper for a winch it asked me about wide vs narrow track. How can I determine which one I have?:?|

How's this for a good deal?

I found a 1979 Wagoneer 4WD, 360 V8, good condition, no rust. A/C works. The asking price is $900. 131,000 miles I know this post is late, but I'm going to look at it in the morning and I was wondering if there is anything in particular that I should look for? Thanks!

    Hello!

I've never owned a Jeep, but always loved 'em! I'm thinking about buying a Jeep so I can go off-roading in the beautiful Northern California mountains. My name is Kevin
