'89 Auto trans leaking

My automatic transmission is leaking A LOT! I will go out there after after a few days of not driving the Jeep and there is a HUGE puddle of trans fluid on the ground. The trans is soaked and I can't really tell where it is coming from other then it is more on the drivers side. Is there a comon leak on this auto transmission???

my sisters had a leak on the shifter part where it goes into the transmission that little felt washer was bad. it could be the front or rear seal.

You're going to have to clean it up good then look again. Also be sure you're not overfilling it. Check the fluid HOT with the engine idling in neutral. I made the mistake of filling it cold and it started spitting out the breather when it got hot.

It could be the selector shaft, though that is a ways up on the case, so I don't know if you'd get a prolonged leak from there when parked

Also be sure it's the trans and not the Tcase.

2 most comon spots tranys leak are

1 the pan gasket
2 the wheep hole below trans pump on front of trans in bell section yes I know its a auto but it looks like a bell just for those who want to critisize lol
what trany is it

heres a list of all trans used in jeeps

the transmission you have if its stock is a 999tf with a 231 transfercase. Sister 89 4.2L has that in it. also depends on 4cyl or 6 cyl right now we are doing a bumper to bimper wiring harness on the damn thing.
