99 tj overheating

I have a 99 tj with no water flow in rad ,runs hot ,pass 210 will blow cap .heard that i could have wrong pump in it .everything on motor runs to right ,but the water pump runs counter clock wise ,cause it runs on back of serpentine belt. found a video on you tube showing a reverse rotation pump & standard pump, Saying if you have a smooth pulley you have a reverse rotation pump. all the ones i have found at auto store & online. show the impeller running the wrong way,you would think or not .so the question is, does the pump cup the water to move it or does it splash the water around spinning it ???? I have many parts guys scratching their heads & jeep dealer too..any advice is appreciated tnks
