RE: Wrangler Owners Beware

Hey there,

Anyone have A web site with the step by step instructions of an install of the SYE kit for a 1995 YJ?

go to www.4xshaft.com (tom woods) then up at the top next to his logo click tech info (its a little link in a group of links) and then go down and click instructions for late model 231/242 conversion. those are the instructions

i lost my instructions... i went to AA's website and downloaded the pdf.. it is the exact manual that they send with the kit.... not a tough install at all... the hardest part is getting the retaining clips out

Thank you Great response

Is there anything one should check for while in the transfer case?
worn, other items, chain back lash? Ect.??

make sure the chain isnt stretched much, itll be painfully obvious if it is. the pics in the installation instructions should be what a good chain will look like. clean out all the metal that is on the collection magnet while your in there and make sure not to drop anything in it, heh.

i think the hardest part is removing the bearing that has to be discarded.. and that's not hard

do yourself a favor and replace the bolts that mount the Tcase to the transmission.... get rid of the studs they use, and get regular hex bolts

yea ill second that, it was nothin but a PITA to pull and when i swap in a transmission thats one thing im gonna do

RE: Selling the Jeep (ouch)

i replaced those bolts about 2 years ago when i swapped my transmission... it saved a lot of work... i got me a 9/16 ratcheting box wrench to help too... GREAT HELP
