could this thing have been producing a spark? (see the whole chunk of porcelain missing?) i just put 6 new platinum plugs in the jeep today and boy is she a whole lot smoother!

You probably either cracked it when you gapped it, or it was a defective plug.

RE: Re: RE: Leaky tires driving me nuts

no no, this plug was in there for the last, what, 5000 miles... since before i owned it!

BUT the 64,000 dollar question is................

WHERE IS THE MISSING PIECE OF PORCELIAN :?: :!: :!:
Did it go through the motor?

RE: 360 Engine Pics Needed

There's only a few reasons for that to happen. The two catastrophic events would be severe detonation or something hitting it in the combustion chamber. The other two, and more common, causes would be if the installer cracked them through rough handling or they were simply defective.

Go pull one of your spark plug wires and crank it up......is that how it was running? If not, then it was firing.

oh holy crap. its seeing things like that, that makes me wonder about the hole engines well being. i wanna say pull the head and check the cylinders. that piece is pretty small so there is a chance it took a ride out the exhaust, but who knows what it may have damaged along the way. or it could still be in there mangleing the poo out of things. dont mean to scare the crap out of you but that is very likely to happen.

I, too, am concerned about this, but i don't see it being worth pulling the head off a motor with 220k miles... i'm gonna cross my fingers and wait it out, if i have to pull it apart later it will be because its not running any more! haha

RE: gear ratios

thats comlietly understandable. with 220k miles on er i probably wouldnt worry about it either.

Who knows, that little piece of porcelain bouncing around in there might make it run better!! Probably cleaning years of buildup and nasty soap scum off your cylinder walls as we speak!!

RE: Re: RE: TJ Wrangler X

Ya, with those miles I would just leave it and figure if it's been doing fine for who knows how long...it should be fine for a lot longer.
