[RESURRECTED CJ7]

Hello. I've had my first Jeep since sept 2007: 1976 CJ -7. I have questions about dashboards.

1. What year dashboards will fit in my Jeep (mine is a bit chewed up). I have heard my model's year (1976) is weird (only one speaker slot). Aside from the old one's poor condition, other model years appear to allow for 2 speakers up front (without having to cut up the dash).

2. Are the radio face and knob holes different from different years. I hope to find a dash that will allow a factory am/fm (which I recently acquired by a miracle).

How authentic are you trying to keep things? I would imagine that most of the CJs are interchangeable, but may need some hacking.


Quadratec sells a replacement dash for all 76-86 Jeep CJ-5, CJ-7 & CJ-8, so the can't be that different

Yep. Quadratec or 4WD Hardware have all the various styles and even have blanks if you want to make your own cutouts.
I just had a piece of aluminum sheared with a 1" lip bent at the bottom for rigidity. Then I cut all my own holes so I could use larger Autometer gauges and move the stereo over where the glove box used to be. Note that it is a bear to cut the square holes for the pull knobs though.
