Exhaust Manifold Repair...Need expert Mechanic advice

Has anyone ever replaced the exhaust manifold on a 1999 Jeep Wrangler Sport? I'm in the process and need some tips on how to take it out and install the new one.

Proper use of your winch

I just did it this summer on a 99 sahara Remove the air intake off of the throttle body. Disconectthe intake manifold and set it up on the side You may have to disconect the wires that hook up to the injectors to allow enough room to set it up on its side. I think there are 4 bolts holding that on. Then remove the bolts holding the old manifold they are tricky to get to u need a extension and one of those swivel joints. Follow the directions from then on. Note I had to disconect the front drive shaft in order to get the old haeder out and the new one in. Make sure you have a good seal ont the new gasket I wasnt carful and had a vaccum leak. ever see a jeep idle @3500 So I had to do it over.

Thanks jeepdude. I didn't get your message until after I managed to put the entire thing together. I started it up and the engine was racing! I had to turn it off before it blew. what do you think is wrong. is it the seal from the exhaust manifold to the gasket? gasket to the engine? I made sure that everything was hooked up correctly, and i checked the gasline. what's wrong,

Sounds like an intake manifold leak, or vacuum leak.
