Gas filler hose size

Does anybody know what size hose the gas filler hose is? I am installing a fuel cell and it uses a 1 3/4 hose. Although it is going in a 1989 Wrangler, which normally has the filler in the back behind the license plate, I am converting it to the side like the newer Jeeps (so the hose fits better and has a straight run to the cell). I would like to get the new style with a cover and lock, but need to know if it uses the right size hose. Thanks for any help you can give me.

If im not mistaken , i think it's a 1" ID hose from the factory..

1 inch is way too small for a fuel filler hose. It has to be over 1 1/2 inches. The first fuel cell I planned on using had a 2 1/2 inch hose and fuel cap. I can reduce it to 1 3/4 for the new fuel tank. Or, if the Jeeps use a 1 3/4 hose, then I can just buy a regular Jeep cap and hook it up to my new tank. I am a little worried about adapters, because I dont want to leak gas when I fill the tank. Plus, it has to be NHRA legal.

X2. For an '89 YJ, 4Wheel Parts list the hose as 1" inside diameter with 15 gallon steel tank. Their part number 52040078 and it lists for $11.99. They have another hose listed for the 20 gal. tank, p/n 52040079, for $13.99 but don't list either I.D. or O.D.

The gas filler hose for my '03 TJ is only 1-3/8" I.D.

Thanks for the information. Hard to believe that my year is so small. And sorry that the newer ones arent quite big enough for the hose my cell uses. I guess I will have to adapt my giant 2 1/2 filler to the smaller 1 3/4 inch gas tank.
