grinding/ binding noise from rear of my cherokee

Hi all, I have a year 2000 cherokee classic, after driving it for a few miles i get a grinding/binding noise coming from the back of the car every time i brake and pull off again. I thought it was the
rear brake sticking but after inspecting the brakes i could not see any signs of sticking or rubbing !! Has anyone got any ideas of what this could be...Many thanks.

Does the grinding start and stop exactly when you apply the brakes?

Have you checked the fluid level in your rear differential?

Low fluid does a noisy rear axle make , hope your not working on a bad wheel bearing or worse , a carrier bearing. Is it the Chrysler 8 1/4 or the dana 35 ?
