Whats going on guys, Iam eddie a fellow jeeper that bought a 4 inch lift for my 89 YJ. I also bought some 33x12.50 super swamper tsl with new 15x10 rims, and a mile marker 8000. I go to college in gainesville florida but home is in Managua Nicaragua, Thats were my jeep is at. I have a mechanic here in nicaragua that has tons of experince but some of the stuff is new for him and me. With the rustys 4 inch lift the instructions suck!!!! so we barely followed them and got must of the kit on with no prob. But some of the brake brackets and other weird looking pieces we dont know where they go. Theres 2 little pieces that look like what a cave man would place on a stick and use as an ax( little ramps). The other part i could not describe so i got a a Link that shows the pic of an lift kit on ebay.(http://images.marketworks.com/fullV.../images.auctionworks.com/hi/67/66933/f0_1.jpg. Its the part right above center of the 4 red shock boots, thank you very much help will be apreciated!!!!!(pics of the installation process???)

Okay, the wedges are shims for the rear axle. They go between the springs and the axle perches (hence the hole in the middle - it's for the spring's centerpin). The fat part would face the rear of the vehicle.

The piece in the pic looks like a rear trackbar bracket. You can either install it or remove the rear trackbar altogether. Personally I'd remove the rear bar. The front one needs to stay. There should be one for the front, too. it will have two holes, and goes between the axle end of the trackbar and the axle.

Thanks for the help twistedcopper, we finally figured out were everything went and are almost finished. With regard to the wedges we have to take out the leaf spring in order to place it in its place right? i was wondering what these parts do and if they are neccesary??
thanks..

The shims will require removing the u bolts and taking the weight off the axle. You should be able to do it without removing either end of the spring.

What they do is rotate the rear pinion upward toward the transfer case to provide a better driveshaft angle. This will help alleviate driveline vibes and save yuor U joints from wearing prematurely.

So, was that other thing the trackbar bracket or a rear brake line extension bracket??? Hard to tell in that pic you had.

You can put the shims in without removing the leaf springs, just use a c-clamp to hold the leaf pack together when you remove the spring centering bolt. Install the shim with a new centering bolt and cut off the excess bolt.

Rusty's doesn't make the spring with a long enough center pin even though they include the shims with their lift? That's a bummer.

hmmm...that makes sence cause today even though the jeep was not totally finished we had not put the brake extensions nor the front and rear track bar brackets, I decided to go for a little spin around the block, and the drive shaft made a little noise, iam guessing the angle in which it was spinning was not the correct one. I knew i wasent supposed to drive it but when my dad and the mechanic left i went for it and quickly put in back in the garage.
Twistedcopper the part on the image that u saw was the rear track-bar bracket, u were saying that theres no need to put on the rear trac bar bracket? and that it was best to take off the bar?? thanks....apreciate the help guys.

My Rusty's lift came with extra center pins just for this reason. Leaves your options open depending on what pinion angle you really need.

If you leave the trackbar on, then install the bracket. If you remove the trackbar like most folks who lift a YJ then you can obviously throw it out.

A trackbar is used to center an axle... most of the time on front ends with forward facing shackles or coil spring suspensions. The rear of a YJ stays centered by the leaf springs which have a rearward facing shackle. Factor in the stability of lift springs and it is really not needed and more of just an offroad hinderance. Just unbolt it and stick it in a shed or basement.

That makes sense.

Well the kit is finally on, tested the jeep today and the new tires with the lift take it to another level. Its different and took a little to get used to but at the end it was just plain awsome. Tomorrow we tackle the mounting of the winch which is kinda tricky cause it had a previous bumber that was actually welded to where the winch plate goes. Besides that the jeep looks awsome and drives great to, iam gonna post some after and before pics as soon as i figure out how. This forum provided me with really good advice, Jeepz.com rocks!!!! thanks alot guys!!
