I want to put eather 33 inch tires or 35' perferably the 35s but i want to know how much of a body lift i need and i want to go semi cheap i want maybe a 3 inch body and a 3 inch suspension..... this is for a 97 TJ? any help would be much appreacited thanks!

ummmm why not 3.5 Suspension for 33's and be done with it. or 3.5 suspension and 2" body for 35's Or just 5.5 suspension for 35's

You need to decide on a tire size or a lift size and then choose the other accordingly. If you are a newbie I'd stay will 33's, which will neccessitate a 4" lift, which can (and should in my opinion) be achieved by a suspension lift with no body lift at all.

In my opinion 33's and a 4" suspension lift will make that a very capable trail Jeep and still be very streetable as well.

No need to appologize. the "ummm" was me thinking to myself. But, as TC said, If you are new to Off-roading then go with the 33's. If you are just new to Jeeps then do what you feel confortable with.

You can get away with a 2" lift if you don't plan on ever going off-road, but then, why would you be at an Off-Roading site ;)
3.5" suspension will give you a perfectly capable ORTJ. 4" will be even better.
Body lift is a cheap way to get what you want in height. However, it makes for an UGLY gap between your Tub and frame and everything else. there are many more negatives to 3" of body lift except the Price. (this is all my personal opinion)

I agree with L33, 3in. of body lift is nothing but trouble. The price might seem right, but for the 3in the body goes up, 3in is lost in linkages & ect. In my opinion a suspesion lift is the way to go. Do the suspension first, and if you want to go up, then add the body lift. Just my opinion though. The great thing about jeeps is you can do what you want to it. Good luck and happy wheelin'

Wait!!! Don't put a lift or any mod's before you wheel! You may be wasting money and time! Remember it will affect all aspects of your rig! Go to paragon stock, and get a feel for it to find out if it's for you. You may not like it. If you get a lift and never go offroad you may regret it

Body lifts aren't as bad as they say they are. Most people don't like the way the gap looks between body and frame, but there are advantages to have a body lift. For instance, they are cheap way to get the tires under your Jeep. Next you can raise your gas tank and its skid plate up to achieve greater departure angles, and you're less likely to get it banged up. You can raise your transmission and transfer case up, with a SYE, and get a skid that goes flat across from frame rail to frame rail. For my .02 I'd get a 4" suspension lift and 2" body then you could easily fit 33's and could squeeze 35's under it. Rule of thumb, decide what tire you want to run, and then build your Jeep around that.

careful... remember we're dealing with a dana35... if you plan on wheeling, go 33s... the dana 35 is at its limit with 35's and may break.... even on road with traction it can leave you limping

Around here we say 33s are the limit. I have seen ALOT of broken axles..
But not usually without a locker.

I agree with the others on tire size. If you're a pavement pounding, conrete cowboy, then you might be able to get away with 35's. But if you go offroad, definitely stick with 33's. With the lift you're looking at doing, 33's will give you more room to flex also
