i have jstu ordered a 2.5 inch rancho suspension lift with rsx 9000 sshocks and im readin up on things such as what size tires i can use with this and things like that and everyting talks about doin some kind of backspacing what is this backspacing??

backspacing is when the wheel/tire sticks out further than stock... adds stability by widening the wheelbase.[addsig]

There's a little more to it than that.

You adjust it by purchasing or building the correct wheel.

The term back spacing refers to the distance from the wheel mounting surface to the rear edge of the rim.

The term offset refers to the distance from the mounting serface to the centerline of the rim.

More backspacing = less tire sticking out (to much can cause tires to rub on the frame)

Less back spacing = more tires sticking out (To much adds stress to wheels, bearings and police officers with ticket books)



To find the correct wheel backspacing for the look you want, find a CJ with the tire/wheel combiation you like and ask the owner for help.
