hey everyone
i installed a new battery in 1998 grand cherokee today, i then locked the doors with the power door lock switch and shut the doors. the alarm must have set because the light started to flash on the dash. getting nervous my son unlocked the door with the key and opened the door and the alarm went off. he quickley opened the hood and removed the battery cable so the horn would stop sounding. now the question when we hook up the battery will the alarm go off? if so how do we turn it off? will the engine not run? please any help is appreciated

You should be able to manually disarm the system by inserting the key to the driver door and or the rear liftgate hatch and manually turn the key to the unlock position.
