Ya, everything sounds cool except for the engine. It looks like it'd be a nice engine swap project

Can a 2.5 4 cylinder be directly swapped out for a I-6 or would a new transmission also be in order? What things would need to be replaced/changed for such an engine swap out? I heard maybe moter mounts, Transmission, what else?

Honestly, if I had a Jeep like your's I'd put in an 8cyl. You'll need mounts and a new transmission...I've never done it, so I can't tell you what else you'll need.

I have a 85 cj-7 w/ a chevy 4.3 ...this is just a v8 w/ the front 2 cyclinders knocked off ..I run 12.5x33 w/ 4.10 gears ....this engine is more than enough power for me I can run down the highway @ 85 w/ no problem (nv4500 overdrive 5th) ,,,and I just got back from a jeep run in Clayton, Ok and had no problems at all ..in fact many of the v8 started getting a little warm while my v6 kept truckin ...these engines are in most s-series chevys (trucks, blazers) and r easy and cheap to find...also there are several after market toys availible ....there is alot of info on the web concerning 4.3 chevy conversions and it is becoming more and more popular....
