possible axle swap candidates

RE: winch questions

I'm still shopping around for a set of dana 44 axles to put under my CJ7. I found an isuzu rear dana 44 complete with discs, but the guy won't go any lower than $200. Is this a good deal? It's been sitting outside for 3 months and has some surface rust. I think I found a set of Scout II dana 44's for sale, also. I don't mind the caster problem as long as I could rotate the knuckles myself. One question though: will the scout axles have enough braking power for 35" tires if I have manual brakes? Also, what would the expenses be of converting the rear to discs? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Re: RE: AT Tires

Ah, i just converted my scout d44 rear to disc(cause the fn drums are over 120.00 a piece) You can buy a kit from TSM (in the back of the mag) ot go find some 1/2 tonm ford or dogde rotors and some small chevy callipers and get weld on brackets and do it your self for less $$$.

$200 isn't bad for a rear 44 with discs.

I wouldn't try cutting and rotating my knuckles myself, get a Waggy front D44 and get decent caster from the start.
