resistance range

Im replacing the gauges in the Jeep and was wondering what would be the resistance range of my fuel sending unit?? i got a 88 wrangler, 258 im assuming it still has the stock tank. thanx for the help

Hi,

I don't know if this will help at all or not, but the schematics for my 1988 cherokee list 0 ohms as empty and 88 ohms as full. I have no clue if they used the same range for the 1988 wrangler or not :?

If you really wanted to find out though, you could attach a potentiometer in the gauge's sending circuit, turn it until it reads empty or full, then measure that resistance with an ohm meter :mrgreen:

Man, how did you spell that.......potentiometer?!?!? I can't even SAY it!!!! That sounds really expensive....I think I'll just check my odometer (cheap).

Hi,

Actually most potentiometers (which are like variable resistors) cost very little. They come in many different sizes and can be purchased at any store which sells electronic components (i.e. radioshack) for less than $1.00 :mrgreen:
