Then why stop with just legalizing drugs?

Let's legalize prostitution, tax it, have the gov't run the brothels and let it fund our schools.
or better yet, just legalize rape also, you could tax the heck out of a good ole 20 minute rape?
yeah this is getting very political, so in the interest of making friends here it goes:

There really isnt anything wrong with prostitution, since the people involved are there voluntarily it isnt hurting anyone but the willing parties. How many fatal traffic accidents are prostitution caused? From a moral standpoint it is wrong but thats for people to decide on an individual basis not for laws to govern. One state has already made prostitution legal and they seem happy with the resutls.

Drug use however does hurt many people. Not only do many drugs cause an addiction that involuntarily affects other people in an abusers life, but when driving under the influence they are risking other people's lives. Drug use is a VERY dangerous thing and since laws are there to protect us and others, it may be better to keep certain drug laws in place.

you may not agree with me but hey , you still drive a jeep

lognhornd,
The whole point of my last post was to show the flaw in the thinking that to "legalize" drugs would solve problems when in reality it would create way more grief than it eliminated.

The remarks were meant to be an allegory of sorts for your musing.
It's funny though that you said prositution was a victomless crime. Many, many prositutes take illegal drugs, maybe to escape the reality of their pointless life. Nonetheless, the act of prositution may be victom-less, but the lifestyle of a prostitute has many victoms ineed. Just ask the children or parents of a prositute how they feel about it.
