soft top for a 84 cj

Will a tj or a yj soft top fit my 84 CJ? If so what year will work.

I'm pretty sure that any YJ top will work, if you use the YJ hardware to mount it.
A TJ top won't fit.

YJ tops will fit the cj-7's - same w/the doors...

The factory YJ tops will fit onto the body of your CJ7, but they are designed for half doors and your doors won't fit unless you buy a set of half doors from a YJ (which will also fit the CJ7).

I don't think they made factory YJ tops that work with full doors, but I could be wrong. I've never seen one though.

A better solution would be an aftermarket top for a CJ7 or a YJ that works with hard doors or full soft doors like a Supertop or something similar.

thanks for all the help. a friend said he would sell me his old soft top off his yj for 50$ just to get it out of his way. its in good shape. it has to be better than my old hard top. thanks for the help

What kind of doors do you have, what kind of doors does he have?

If they are both full doors it should work fine.

That is actually a pretty common top choice for CJ7's. Only thing is you need half doors with the soft top inserts. I really dont see what the point is. Why not just get a Cj top?
