steering box ?

My steering box is leeking fluid right on the spline the pitman arm is attached to. What should I do: Have mine rebult, buy a rebult one, or buy a beefier one? with a stronger one will I have to replace the steering pump too?

Junkyard, those are expensive new and rebuilt. Just my opinion, thats where i would go.

I'm still a n00b here but that's one of the first things I had experience with when I bought my used 98.

Beachjeep is right, both are expensive.
My steering box was leaking and I priced both options..just for the part, the new steering box was substantially more.
I opted for the rebuilt (with a core trade in). So far so good.

rebuild kit is aroung $30 I have not done it so I am not sure how easy it is. Gasket kit is like $15. If they use the same saganaw box as my CJ.

It should just be a standard oil seal. Pull it off and see. Replace both seals and stick it back on. I wouldn't spend the money for replacement when you could buy a $3 oil seal.
