I've been looking for several months and finally found a Jeep to call my own. It is a 1989 Wangler, 6 cylinder. The body is in fantastic condition. The only rust is minimal pitting around the windshield. There is no rust under the wheel wells or frame. I assume this machine was pulled behid an R/V because the interior in immaculate. Anyway, it is a base machine that we plan to fix up. I have visited the Quadratec website several times and they seem to have good prices compared to what I can find locally (Central Nebraska). Right now, I am planning to buy and install the following and would appreciate any comments or recommendations.

Wheels - Mickey Thompson Classic Lock Wheel - 15x10 rim

Tires - Mickey Thompson Baja Radial ATZ 32x11.50 R15

Suspension - Black Diamond 3.5" suspesion lift
http://www.quadratec.com/products/product_search.php?kw=16110.010

Bumpers - Front - Rugged Ridge Dual Tube
http://www.quadratec.com/products/product_search.php?kw=12060.202

Rear - Rugged Ridge Dual Tube with hitch
http://www.quadratec.com/products/product_search.php?kw=12064.302

Rock Guards - Rugged Ridge Side Armor Guards http://www.quadratec.com/products/12052_102_07.htm

We will install the suspension and wheels and tires, then drive is across the state for a paint job. After paint, we will install bumper and side guards.

Again - thanks for any comments and suggestions.

Go with 8" rims for the 32x11.5 tires, most jeepers use up to a 12.5" wide tire on 8" wheels.

Those rocker guards rob a lot of ground clearance, if you plan to wheel this jeep consider something that mounts up to the rocker and under the body mounts. Protects the rockers and saves ground clearance, can be had with steps too.

If you plan to wheel the jeep, consider what you'll use for recovery points front and rear when looking at bumpers. Your rear receiver will cause the bottom of the bumper to be pulled up and out if used for recovery, it's low position will increase leverage, bending the rear frame crossmember. Consider bumpers with shackle tabs or receivers mounted midline vertically so any pull is centered on the bumper mounting points.

And for the windshield frame, be ready to replace it as the rust is likely a lot deeper than it appears, it usually is with windshield frames. It'll be a good investment to replace it with the $$ you'll likely drop on a paintjob.
