Swap 70's AMC 6cyl into a YJ?

I have a 91 Wrangler and would like to put a 70's 258 or 232 in it. Is it a direct swap? Are the motor mounts the same? Will the AUTO trans bolt up?

NO. dif motor mounts on the frame, dif bellhousing bolt pattern, dif tcase, your current motor is computer controled the 70,s is not, dif auto trans. Anything can be swaped into about anything, its how much trouble and money is involved. If you strip your yj down to basicly a body and frame, axles you could put about any engine and trany combo the would fit inot it, its the cost and work involved that makes popular swaps and NOT so popular swaps. The answer to your question is yes and no depending on how involved you want to get. I would not recomend this swap. Too much involved, whats wrong with the 6cyl that came behind the yjs?? That would be a better swap for you.
