the new grand... the 2006 wrangler?

I was driving to work this morning, and I noticed a ticking or clicking right after I shift out of 1st and 2nd... also recently it's been getting more and more difficult to even get it into first. I never worked on a manual transmission before, so I'm hoping its not going to be too expensive since I'll proably have cottman look at it. Any thoughts?

Because the factory recommended GL5 gear oil is very bad for your transmission. Buck up to some Redline MT90 and kiss all your transmission worries goodbye.

Keep the GL5 and it'll eat your synchros, your fluid will look like glitter, and you'll never be able to get it in gear. Most AX5 and AX15's are able to be saved if the GL5 is removed early enough. Yes, the Redline is that good.

Oh and does anyone know the fluid capacity of the AX-15 ?

Just under 4qts. I believe.

It's only available at performance shops and online. Got mine at www.summitracing.com . Check with AutoZone, they carry Redline WaterWetter, they may carry the MT90 or be able to order it in for you.

penzoil syncromesh works almost as well as redline, and is more available in common car stores, napa, autozone , advanced auto etc

I drove the jeep home today and the chattering is very random. It clicked starting off in 1st 4 times... then only once... then nothing... it is very inconsistant. I also felt vibs in the clutch and stick shift.

Redline is the bomb. If they make it, it's probably the best on the market.

I hope for your sake it didn't have GL5 in it. It was a misprint in the manual and Chiltons and Haynes also list GL5 as the proper oil. GL3 is what you get when you buy Transmission fluid from the stealership. The GL5 is corrosive to the brass parts in the AX5 and AX15 transmissions. You'll know by the shiny brass filings in the oil when you change it if that is the case.
