Vacuum switch

Vacuum switch for the 4wd is attached to the back side of the transfer case, near the rear output, or on top above the shifter lever.

If your 4wd isn't working, check the condition of the vacuum lines to and from the front axle.

the lines look good..is there a way to test the switch???

Yes. With the Jeep running and tires chocked, pull the 2 black vacuum lines from the front axle. Have a trusted friend shift the transfer case between 2wd and 4wd while you feel for strong equal vacuum alternating between the 2 lines.

If you have strong alternating vacuum, remove the disconnect housing from the front axle (4 bolts). Make sure the shift fork moves back and forth easily.
