Before I got my CJ I asked everyone I could find including starting a thread on here, about what kind of mileage I could expect. It was like nobody wanted to say for sure. After driving it a while I was impressed. It gets better than the fuel injected Cherokee I swaped for it. I think where it's so light and the V8 doesn't have to pull anything is why it does so well. It still could stand some tuning, my goal is 20mpg. I've got a set of headers I'm gonna add I think they will help. One thing that probably helps is all the extra metal that has rusted away and lightend it up.

I've got an 06 2.4l and I get 20 to 22 mpg. That's around town. With very little highway

With my 2001 TJ 2.5l, in town mileage is about 16 and highway about 18 to 19, with mileage dropping off quickly past 65MPH

Yeah --- The. HIGHER Speeds do TEND to do a number on the Mileage. A FEW things we can DO to Keep the MPG Up on our Jeeps. 1. Change Air Filter 2. Keep Good Spark Plugs -- in the Motor. 3. CLEAN Fuel Injectors--- 4. Keep Tires Properly Inflated -- Decrease Rolling Resistance 5. Change Fuel Filter. These are NOT Huge Expensive Items --- BUT, They can HELP with the MPG ! --- JB

I was just checking out Jeep CJ commercials on youtube. One in particular caught my eye was listed as 1982 Jeep commercial. In it it said Jeep had the highest gas mileage of any 4 wheeler made in America. It listed 28Hwy 23epa est MPG.

Yeah --- The. 2.5L DID get pretty Good MPG--- Right off the Show Room Floor! But, I would be more Inclined to Believe the EPA Numbers: 25MPG - HWY; 19- City; 22- Combiened! I think JEEP pumped UP the Numbers a Tad! (To Sell Jeeps) How MANY of our friends with '82 CJ's -- are getting 28MPG? (Hwy) Not many! Comments? JB

Mileage sucks,It's a jeep thing ! But who cares as long as we can sling some mud. Make the vette drivers cry in their pillows at night cause we get all the pretty girls, Ahhhhh yes, life is good.
