YJ Lift Question

I am considering buying a 92 YJ that I recently found but I have a couple of questions about the lift that it has on it.
The paper in the window of the YJ said it has a 2" shackle and a 4" suspension lift with BFG 33's.
My question is, do you need a 2" shackle lift as well as a 4" suspension lift in order to fit 33's on it?
The Jeep rides very rough with the shackle lift and I would like to do away with it if at all possible while keeping the 33's on the jeep.

I'm new to the Jeep scene so forgive me if my questions are stupid.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You can fit 33's without the shackle lift, in fact a shackle lift has more negative aspects than it does good. If you get it, take it off and find some stock ones or get some slightly longer beefy ones, I have the Currie HD 5/8 lift shackles, they work amazing for me. Last month I dropped off a ten foot ledge, landed smack on the shackle, broke the leaf spring, but didn't even tweak the shackle. Just my .02 :D

33" will fit with a 4" spring, but you may get some tire rubbing of the rear flares when loaded or articulated. Spring sag quickly requires some additional clearance over the 4" springs. I would do a 1"-2" body lift or install TJ fender flares for the extra clearance before installing longer shackles.
