YJ tub swap question

OK, I have officially started taking apart my CJ to put on a YJ tub. A 95 YJ tub is on the way. This should be fun!

Thinking ahead... Rather than move the gas filler hole over to the CJ side, and using my 26 year old rusty CJ tank, I may leave it on the YJ side and pick up a plastic YJ tank. Should this be as easy as it sounds? Will my CJ sending unit fit the YJ tank? Or would a YJ sending unit work with my CJ gauge? I just don't want to assume it will work, and thought a few of you may have been down this road.

I moved mine easily by covering the hole with those plain steel corner guard things from warrior. But to (not really) answer your question: YJ tank will be easy....don't think CJ sender will work....and don't know if YJ sender will be compatible with CJ gauge. But what the heck do I know....put all my stuff together with a new autometer fuel gauge and the darned thing STILL doesn't work (Jeep thing). I think one of the guys sabotaged me during installation.
