5th gear won't stay fixed

Alright, pardon my lack of technical knowledge. I've got a 95 Wrangler. Fifth gear slipped out. I paid a guy to fix it. It slipped out again. His advice was something like "there's something bent inside the transmission, you have to replace the whole thing to get 5th back". This happened over a year ago and all of the other gears work just fine. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Any advice on what the problem may be? It would be much appreciated!

sounds like a bad synchro.

How long did the repair last?

Pretty sure it's bad synchronizers causing a poor 4th to 5th shift, breaking the clip. I had this happen several times until I installed a different transmission and began using Redline MT90 in my transmission.
