I don't have anything to help you except that the posters stating that the computer has to "relearn" is completely untrue. After a battery is disconnected the computer goes through a cycle to check circuits to be sure everything is ok but there will not be any drivability issues because of this...

I have a 82 cj7 with a Dana 300 transfer case and it seems to be missing a mount at the crossmember. It seems to have one mount there but nothing else. I can see where there are bolt holes and such on the other side but nothing is there. There is also some cheesy metal bracket...
If your pinion angle is extreme changing it with degree shims will help a bit. You also want to make sure your driveshaft is balanced and not the cause as well.
Are you asking if its worth rebuilding? I'm always down to rebuild my own just for the joy of it but the costs add up quick and you may be able to find one to drop in I believe Quadratec has one.
I just had very similar issues. Couldn't figure it out. I finally let it run and started touching harnesses and it died on me as soon as i touched the crank postion sensor harness. I would recommend doing the same.
I have an 82 CJ7 with 33's. They rubbed the front fenders just a little bit with a 4" lift. My speedo seems to be about 8 Mph off at about 45. So It says I'm doing 45 but I'm really doing about 53.
The CPS sends TDC/timing information to the ECM.
I was just checking out Alldata and it recommends checking the igntion control module before the CPS. Use these to help you.
There should be centering pins in your leaf springs that line up to your spring perches to keep the springs/ axle in line. Sounds like maybe one of them sheered off.
