YJ 15 gal to 20 gal gas tank Mod

I'm sure this has probably been posted before, but I just did this mod and it was REALLY easy and Whitey now has a 20 gallon gas tank!!!

Anybody know if this can be done on a TJ??

I've read it can be done to a TJ, but you're required to lower the tank and go in through the sending unit hole to trim the vent hose.

I did this a few years ago, great having the extra range of the 20 gal. tank

Check out this site, it shows you exacly how to do the conversion. You do not need to lower the tank to do it! It took me about an hour and a half to do the conversion and now my tank holds almost 20 gallons! The hardest part is accessing the screw on the metal strapping that holds the vent tube onto the tank. You should be able to slowly turn it with needle nose pliers till you can loosen it enough to spin it around and get a regular crew driver or socket wrench on it. Good Luck! Doesn't work on the older YJ's with metal tanks, they are actually either 15 or 20 gal.
