    Which pads?

I've always had good luck with NAPA ceramic pads.

    Jeep In Italy

Actually you see a fair number of Wranglers and Cherokees over there. Most have diesels which are not offered in the U.S. models. The only American cars I saw there were Jeeps and Chryslers, probably because Fiat owns Chrysler and I suppose they have a better dealer network. Also tons of...

    Jeep In Italy

Haven't checked in for a while since we traded in the Jeep. When things get slow at work I drive around Italy on Google Streetview. Drove by the neighborhood where we stayed in Rome two years ago and there was a Wrangler Rubicon parked outside a bar on the corner. I did see several Wranglers...

    Bestop Headliner TJ

Bestop soft top headliner. This is a quilted headliner that fits inside the soft top. Keeps it warmer and quieter in winter. Attaches with snaps and velcro, you will need a new roll of velcro for the windshield header. Spice color. Like new, only used two winters. We have traded in the...

    Saying Goodbye

The Jeep is going to that great used car lot in the sky on Friday. Simply uses too much gas for my daughter's long commute to work. 3 speed automatic and 4.11 gears do not a highway cruiser make. She is getting a new Ford Fiesta, which even with a payment she won't be out any more money than...

Do you grow your own food?

No. Food comes from the supermarket wrapped in plastic. I figure if I eat lots of preservatives and insecticides I'll live longer and mosquitoes won't bite me.

    What's your scariest Jeep experience?

Water pump took a powder last year, I was trying to limp home, and the radiator exploded. And I do mean EXPLODED. Big time.

    TJ Muffler

I have the full Banks system, it's pretty loud but doesn't sound bad. I put the cat-back system on first but it was loud even before I got the header. I will probably get a Magnaflow the next time. I can hear my daughter coming a block away.

    TJ Fiberglass Fenders?

Had the Jeep totally repainted two years ago. Also installed new front fenders at the time since the originals were rusting. 4WD Hardware had Chinese repros from Rugged Ridge that I bought. Now these are rusting on the top even though I sprayed undercoating on them right after it was painted...

Looking for a CA legal cat-back exhaust for a 2.4

If the check engine light isn't on then the cat is probably okay. I know CA has some different laws regarding emissions. On ours I had a muffler shop put on a universal replacement cat, it cost about $120. If you're talking about the exhaust from the cat on back, I had the Banks system put on...

    Tire pressure advice

Jeeps don't weigh a lot compared to other vehicles that run the same size tires. Rim width matters too, a wider rim will require a little more air. I run 235/75-15's on OE aluminum wheels (that I bought later) and they seem to wear best at 26 psi. For 31's I'd start with 26 if you have 7"...

What did you do to your Jeep today?

Changed the oil. Every 3000 miles and it looks like tar. Tightened the transmission pan and added half quart of fluid since it was leaking.

    Fender flares for 98 Wrangler

The factory Rubicon flares are a little wider. You may find some used ones on eBay or wherever from someone who upgraded to larger ones. Also 4wd.com has flares from other sources that cost less than Bushwackers.

    Advice Wanted

I'm big on changing fluids. I would change the lube in the axles, transmission, t-case, and axles every 30,000 miles, assuming you don't drive it underwater once in a while and do that anyway. Lotta people don't think about the t-case, it takes ATF, but after 30k it will look like tar.

What did you do to your Jeep today?

Added half a quart of oil. I would have washed it but tonight, one week after the official start of spring, we are supposed to get 3" to 6" of snow. I told my daughter to fill it up on her way to work tonight because she might be in 4wd all the way home in the morning.
