4.0 head on a 4.2 engine/Info on rearend swap

Is there a detailed file or something on line about putting a 4.0 head on a 4.2 engine.The rear end from a ford explorer.Any and all info would be appericated.Thank-you. 8

I've never done the conversion myself, but I've seen the results and it is impressive. The 258 head flows so poorly in stock form that it hinders any other attempts to make horsepower with that engine. With the superior flow of the 4.0 head, the 4.2 can really be brought to life without the expense of extensive port modifications and flow-bench testing of the factory head.
 

Ford 8.8 is a good choice, those things are stout. They can be found with gear ratios to match what you have, and with limited slip differentials. '95+ have disc brakes. I'm still searching for an XJ/MJ D44, so gotta go check another 2 junkyards.
