94 Wrangler, 4.0L, 4" lift, 33" MTs. I engage 4wd, the light comes on and I'm in 4wd, after a few seconds it disengageds. Loss of vacuum??? Any other ideas? Thanks guys!
you can check by dropping into 4lo and getting into some loose ground and see if the front tire spins when to "get on it..." - thats how i check mine if i dont trust its engaged (lost the light with my cable conversion...) - if not - consider doing the conversion - never trusted the vac. system and pulled a few "stock" jeeps out of sand at the beach when i lived in FL that had vac. failures - works great when it works but i prefer mechanical means... just my $.02
its a mechanical cable that moves the fork in the front axle instead of the vac. system.... this is what i (and many others) did - cost less than $20 and takes about 3hrs depending on motivation, beer consumption and spousal interruption.... http://home.earthlink.net/~stevenschreiber/cabledis.htm
works well but dont go cheap on the cable - mine bound up and is in perma lock position till i change it out...
Although LVRockCrawler probly has a good system in place there is a professional kit also. It's called a 4x4 Posi-lok conversion. Same idea but comes with a whole new 4wheel drive motor. Costs $200 and is SUPPOSED to be easy. But I've learned that nothing is easy on my undercarriage. Thats the route I'm gonna go. I just need money first.

yea... i'll agree... but issues like $20 -vs- $200 will motivate you to try... mine is currently in perma-lock position till i get a new cable... but when all works its pretty simple, reliable and CHEAP!
You can easily get your 4wd indicator light to work after installing a posilok by leaving the single vacuum line hooked up (early models) or leaving the electrical connection hooked up (later models).
