93 YJ bucking problem

My gals 93 YJ runs like a top when cold and first started. It will run great for hours until I shut it off and try to restart it. Some times (not all of the time) we are experiencing a bucking/jerking worse than a cowboy riding a mad bull, It almost feels like the thing jumps time. Its a 4.0 with fuel injection 5 speed. After the jeep sets and cools for a while she starts and runs again without a problem. The O2 sensor and fuel filter have been replaced a few months ago. Could it be the crankshaft sensor? Thanks in advance for any help/comments. Frank

Put a multimeter on the coil and the primary and secondary resistance readout fell in the range specified in the Haynes manual. Thanks for the input but I think the problem is else where, Anyone else got any ideas what could be causing this problem. Frank

Change it anyway :) Seriously, I had that same problem one time and also ran that "test" , but I did end up replacing the coil and my problem was cured. It wasn't on a Jeep but that's irrelevant. I don't have any other ideas of what to look for, sorry.

when you ran the test... was the engine hot?

Snitty, The engine wasn't hot, I didn't want to get burned when removing the coil. I see what your getting at and it makes sense to me. The problem occurs when the jeep is hot so it only makes sense to check the coil when it is hot. I believe I'll take a chance and replace the coil, I guess they can't run more than 40 bucks. I'll let ya know the outcome. Thanks, Frank
