hello
i have a 1987 yj with a 6cyl and the transmission is bad,i am wondering if anybody knows how to tell what model of transmission it has in in from the serial #? i have checked around with dealers and repair shops and nobody can give me an answer,so i am asking for your help. thank

Either the TF999(early production) or it's variant the 32RH..

thanks, will a 30-43le transmission fit into a 1987 wrangler? what im trying to do is keep and auto transmission in the jeep ,my daughter cant use a clutch, and she wont use it off road

The 30RH was used on the 2.5 4cylinders and the 32RH was on the 4.0 I6. I'm not sure if they have the same bolt pattern on the bell housing that will make them interchangable..I can't imagine a short supply of the 30 / 32RH auto trans. since they were used all the way up to 2002 on the TJ's..The 42RLE was later released on 2003. I would look into swaping the 42rle into your jeep rather than the 30RH if that's where you were heading..The transfer case you have is a NP207. If you decide to swap the transmission, you might as well pair it up with the NV231 or NV241 T.case that would directly bolt on..I don't know if the NP207 will bolt right up to the 42RLE..
