burp your jeep?

Ok, Had the jeep running for a few minutes after installing new freeze plugs and putting my new 2100 on OVERHEATED!!!!!!. Now the only thing different is the carb. I am guessing since I drained the coolant to do freeze plugs that I have an air pocket in the cooling system. (yes I put coolant back in ) I know we have this happen on Toyotas alot after waterpump install..we just burp it, let it run with the cap radiator cap off while squeezing radiator hose and slowly adding coolant..should I do the same. By the way this is on my 80CJ with a 258.

It certainly couldn't hurt to give it a try.

After I re-fill the radiator, I always let it run with the cap off for a little bit. Then re-fill it and put the cap on, let it run some more, and re-fill...repeating as neccessary.

I've never tried "burping" it though. I'll have to give that a try sometime.
