CV driveshaft alignment???

I was told today by a friend that when I put in my SYE kit and cv driveshaft that the rear axle must be shimmed so the diff is straight in line with the drifeshaft. I know I posted something similiar to this a while back but is there any truth to this? According to him, he cut his spring mounts and repositioned them because he had to change the angle so much. Right now, I have a spring under and still haven't installed my 8.8" rearend yet because I found a cheap fix for my stock axle. I have the 8.8 and will be installing it when I do my SOA (as soon as I can get enough for a high steer setup) so I can position the axle straight in line with the driveshaft when that is done. Can I get away with installing the cv driveshaft now without doing any shimming? I have approx. 3" of suspension lift and my lift kit came with shims when I installed it.

instead of a cv shaft... if you intend on using stock driveline angles... use a front style shaft... fixed yoke at each end and a slip in between... like i did... i believe it was a ford front shaft... but little did i know, one of the ujoint holders was already cracked... so i ended up taking it off... i still have it if you want to find another slip to fit it... PM me for details... it makes a good temporary shaft

Thanks, but I already have the sye kit sitting here waiting to be installed. I've just been waiting till I can afford to so an soa so I can get the proper sized cv driveshaft. The reason I was thinking about doing it now before the soa is because I've cracked my yoke and if I do it now, it's only $40 to have the driveshaft lengthened when I do my soa.

what i'm saying is.... if you don't want to shim the axle... you can stll use a non-cv style shaft after you install the SYE... i did that and it worked great...
