Engine makes a hissing sound

Car has a hard time starting but eventually does. It makes a hissing sound like it's sucking in to much air. When we press on gas pedal it stalls & dies. There is an odor coming from the exhaust pipe smelling of gas indicating to much fuel loss no being burned. Before this we had a "lurching" motion when the engine was cold and it would sputter while driving. Sometimes it would choke at 30-40 mph with rpms going up to 4000 rpms without shifting (auto trans) & gas pedal to the floor. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT right now which is why we are stumped.

So far we have replaced:
8 spark plugs
8 spark plug wires
Distributor Cap & Rotor
Fuel pump
Ignition Coil
A vacuum hose going into the distributor housing
Idle air control motor
Radiator (unrelated issue)
O2 sensors (in & out)

The car was originally built in Canada but is a registered imported in the state of California. Our next step is to replace the crankshaft sensor. Does this car have a camshaft sensor? What has us stumped is no check engine light. Please help. If it isn't the crankshaft sensor then we have to take it to a shop.

Verify clean battery terminals and ground connections.

Clean the Tb.
Verify there are no vac leaks. Spray carb cleaner around intake near engine and TB base , spark plugs and vac connections. Inspect vac lines.

Check fuel pressure.

Another likely sensor is the TPS
Cam sensor is likely I the distributor.
