Fantasy Football Time!!

My draft is coming up. Anyone else out there in a league this year.

I am picking 6th in a 12 team league. Any ideas on my draft?

Just want to hear some opinions, of course i already have a strategy.

I'm going to pick 2 RB's and a WR or TE for my first 3 to 4 picks. Then, I hope to scrounge up some value with a late QB pick. Palmer, Delhomme, and McNair I think are going to do much better than their draft positions suggest. Especially Delhomme.

I envision a Roster like:
Alexander, Jones, Gonzalez, and Delhomme. This strategy will I think leave me weak at WR. Unless I pick a WR instead of a TE. I'm going for TE's because they score .5 pt's more for every yard. But if there is a WR like Owens or Walker (which I doubt) I'd of course pick them.

What I need is some creative ideas on value for Mid to Lower Wide Outs.

What do you guys think?

I'm hoping to squeak a reciever like Steve Smith or C. Rogers (because of their injury histories)

As for the RB's:
If I can get 2 backs like Alexander and Julius Jones for example, that'd be pretty darn good. Or GASP maybe Priest? I think he could slip to 6th with all of the injury hype about him. I'd be satisfied with a tandem like McGahee and Jones for example.

I won a championship on the arm of Brad Johnson, so that's proof you don't have to have a tier 1 QB.

Well, the nice thing about the fantasy football stuff is that it gets you interested in ALL of the games. We all have a favorite team and you only get to cheer them one time a week (unless they have a bye, of course). With a fantasy team, you have an interest in every game - lots of channel surfing!!! Makes the season a little more interesting.

kevin jones, not that he isnt already good, will have a breakout year IMO. and breakout receiver is andre johnson. obviously drafts vary because different people value different things, my one suggestion, when someone starts the domino rally of picking kickers, refrain, you can live with a kicker week to week, none is worth picking early. think about it, vanderjagt sucked last year, dominant year before. just not worth an early pick.

oh. well that works. i still cant pay attention to any other team other than the raiders. occasionaly the seahawks. i hope you fare well in your draft.

RE: Acetone???

Bchcky, I totally agree about Jones. I have had him highlighted on my draft cheetsheet for quite some time.
And as far as my plans, I went with plan B hardcore, once McGahee was off the board.

Here's my team:

Daute Culpepper (#1 in total scoring in my league last year, over Peyton)
Griese for back up
Voleck (for potential sleeper)

RB's:
Kevin Jones
Michael Bennet
Thomas Jones
Larry Johnson (I think he's gonna be my #2 by mid season)

WR's:
Terrel Owens (I hate him, but damn is he money)
Steve Smith (on fire)
Antonio Bryant
Carlos Rogers
Marcus Robinson

TE:
Antonio Gates (Scores as much as an RB)

K:
Shane Graham

DST:
Ravens D

RE: Re: RE: Fantasy Football Time!!

BTW, and I did this in a 12 team league.

I think I'm a bit light on RB's as of right now, but bennett has a ton of upside. Every year the Min. RB's produce. But, he's prone to injury. I'll rotate Jones, Bennett, and Johnson depending on the matchup.

Johnson is a huge sleeper. When in, he is arguably more effective than priest. Also, he's supposed to get 40% of the touches. Out of 35 that would be 14 touches a game. Not bad. And they'll likely use him in more passing situations and goal line situations. And if Priest goes down...woah. LJ almost single handedly took me to the championships last year!

But I figure TO, Antonio Gates and Culpepper will make up for the lack of a strong #2 RB. Bur Bennett and Jones CAN surprise.

RE: JEEP RESTORE IS DONE!

Would any of you trade Bennett RB and Charles Rogers WR for Curtis Martin? I'll get Martin.

Okay, all's said and done and here's my team:

D Culpepper
B Griese

K Jones
C Martin
L Johnson
M Bennett
W Parker

A Bryant
T Owens
S Smith
M Robinson

A Gates
M Pollard

S Graham

D Ravens

S 49ers

I think considering I drafted a QB in the first round I made out like a bandit. I traded T. Jones and S. Davis for C. Martin after all. Also made some key pick ups...like Willie Parker.

RE: insane motorcycle video - homemade here in shippensburg,

I am in 5 leagues, so there is no point to me putting my picks up!

I took the Browns for my Defence in most of my leagues, I figure since they have the best defensive coordinator for their head coach now, something has to be getting done over there!
