gearing question/lockers

Search google for 'lincoln locker' or 'weld differential' and you'll find some info. One article recommends grinding the spiders to accept a square chunk of steel, but it's overkill to me. I just had an experienced welder buddy of mine do it with 220 MIG, no extra metal required. I've got it front and rear.

No pics, but will be if we do it to another Jeep. Just weld them spiders together, getting good penetration and filling all the gaps between the spider gears.[addsig]

I wouldn't use arc welders, it didn't hold up for me in the past. If you can weld it well enough with arc, or know somebody that can, then I hope it lasts. I last used 220 MIG and it's solid and strong.[addsig]
