I know of a few ways to squeeze out some semi-inexpensive extra HP's ie; air flow, electric fan(s), headers, cat back, plugs. What's your favorite cheap power booster?
Nitrous Oxide Dick - ya, I know, your going to say that it's not cheap, right? Here's the trick (don't tell anyone, OK?) DON'T USE THE INDUSTRIAL GRADE OF NITROUS, USE THE MEDICINAL GRADE!! Sniff it, stab the throttle and WHOOOOOOOOOO cares how much it costs????!!! Hahahahaha...LBR
After I installed my cat-back, I noticed a power increase and gained 2 mpg on the highway. Here is a list of mods I've done so far to improve performance:
K&N FIPK kit
TB Spacer
Custom cat-back (Rusty's Offroad pipe with a hi-flow turbo muffler)
On my way back from DC I got 17.8 mpg with 31x10.5's, 4.0, 5spd running 65-70mph. I also haven't upgraded my speedo gears since I put the larger tires on so it could be even better.
My next mod is a Flex-a-lite direct fit (FLX-475). I'm really curious if I'll be able to notice a difference.
I had been going to get a chip, but have heard they are a waste of $$$.
have the throttle body machined so that the lower opening is larger, to allow more air through.... then... to "port match" you will trace where the throttle body mounts to the intake manifold.. a good way is to put tape over the intake opening (where the throttle body bolts to the intake)... cut out the bolt holes... press the throttle body onto an inkpad spongey thingy (just as a stamper).. then line the holes up as if you were to mount it... then you want to use a dremel or similar tool to "match" the "ports" so that they mate perfectly... hence, port matching
