If you had a 1999 jeep wrangler with new 31" tires and chrome rims and a 40 series 2.5" exhaust... other then that completely stock... and had 500 bucks WHAT WOULD YOU BUY!? Please add the links so i can see the product. I wanna spend about 500 on the Jeep, while im here in school so it can be done by the time i get home in november to pick here and up and bring her to cali. So id appreciate it to see what you guys would do.

Hey a guy can dream can't he... You still have stock seats? I got a nice set of seatcovers from quadratec and they totally changed the whole interior of my jeep for the better. The first investment I did was to throw out the old stereo on the Jeep and isntall a new one in a totally different location, getting rid of my sound bar.

In the case of Subs, you are probably thinking about those cars that have HUGE subs and you can hear nothing BUT the subs. But keep in mind that the original purpose of subs is to be able to maintain the balance of all frequencies (by boosting the bass sound) at louder volumes. Bass requires more power than any other frequency, and this is why you need a separate amp...

If you build your system for sound quality, and not volume, a complete sound system will allow you to enjoy your music at a high enough volume that you will actually be able to use it at highway speeds with no top (or with a soft top). To me, that's a BIG difference... But then again, I am biased (I work for Sony in the Audio department!).

In all honesty, the seat covers is one of the things I feel has made the Jeep look much newer than what it really is. Depending on how your interior looks, this could turn out to be a must.

I Honestly doubt you will be able to get Jessica for $500!!! LOL!!!

You can also get a Ford Taurus electric fan with less than half of that budget. Mine was $30 from the local U-Pick yard, the controller (I tried looking up the people I got it from, but did not find them; mine is a Delta Controller) was about $110, the switch (3 position) was about $10 (I got a labeled one with LEDs), and the relay (for the ON override) was about $30 if I remember correctly (bought it at NAPA). Now I can have the fan on auto, OFF or forced ON (I have the auto plugged to the high speed cable and the ON to the low speed cable; 2 completely separate circuits in case one fails)

Other than that, some lights (I installed KC Daylighters on the windshield hinges, and KC Slimlights fog lights on the front bumper and I am happy not only with how they work but also ith how they look) would be my recommendation. This is how those look:

Thats a nice jeep, i like the way the seat covers look. I hate when they dont fit right, but these seem to be made for jeeps only, not a universal one. Im also going to look into new fog lights because the ones i have now are cracked and loose.

Thanks, Laxpug. The covers are DEFENETELY made for the jeep, and fit the seats like a glove. You can even get them made of neoprane, which i recommend if you often get your interior wet (I dont, so I bought the cloth ones)..

I sort of watched this thread and didn't want to comment because everyone builds a jeep differently, some go for looks first then performance mods..personally I am the opposite, if the Jeep doesn't perform..then all the chrome in the world cant help you get out.
The air intake and electric fan fan are a good start, adding tow points front and rear would also fit right in that 500$ budget as well. Both of these mods will give you more down the line in fuel savings giving you that little extra to pretty her up later.


P.S. that is why my Jeep will never win a beauty contest...but the beauty is I gone more places off road than those dolled up parking lot cruisers.

Lunch box Locker for the front, then I would use the extra cash to get some tow hook and other recovery gear, or safety gear.

Rocker guards of some type, save cash and build your own, I did, cost about $80 when all said and done.

So i made the order, sorry to disapoint some of you. But i appreciate the advice. I went with http://www.quadratec.com/products/97014_100.htm to replace my factory cracked discolored fog lights. I also got the seat covers front and back my seats are in really bad shape, some rips here and there. I also got the http://www.quadratec.com/products/17010_007.htm for my intake. I talked to a buddy of mine who has this and he told me he really likes its for its value. Its a first(baby) step towards mods on my engine. Im looking for driving this jeep for a long time, and just 2 weeks ago i was thinking about selling her... how stupid was I!?
