Jeep hard tops

I see several types of hard tops for Jeeps with different vents. Why are they different? Some have a vent box on one side on the inside-some have vents on the outside on the side-some have no vents. Some lock with a handle on each side-- some lock with a handle in the middle--some have no handle to lock. WHAT GIVES???

I'm not to familiar with hard tops, but i would think it has something to do with the cost of the top. the ones that are vented might not be as hot in the summer. But like i said i only have a few soft tops. Hope i helped a little!
