Locations to mount OBA tank on a TJ

Hey all,
Just bought a York compressor and ordered the Kilby mounting kit. I am left with trying to find a good, out of the way place to install the air tank. I have heard of a few people mounting them under the jeep close to the fuel tank, or under the hood. I am open to any and all suggestions as I haven't bought the tank yet. I am thinking at least a 2.5 lb tank, although if I can find a great- concealed and out of the way place for bigger I am game. I would love a 5 lb-er! Ya'll got any succestions?

What kind of tank air you going to use? I saw some VIAIR tanks that were pretty slick.

I'd put in as large a tank as possible that'll fit parallel with the rear driveshaft, on the opposite side of the driveshaft from the muffler.

I have seen pics of the VIAIR tanks mounted on the front behind the winch. If you have a straight six, it may be possible to get it on the passenger inner fender under the hood.

I am open to the kind of tank. It doen't matter too much to me as long as it has a purge valve and two ports I am happy. I like the idea of mounting it underneath the vehicle along the drive shaft. To answer redrooster, I have the 4.0l I-6. I guess the risk of puncture whether under or behind the bumpers is always going to be there. I just wish there was a wee bit more real estate on this sucker!!

The best place I have found is on the drivers side. The front mounting bolts come through just under the drovers seat.

The 2.5 gal Viair tank fits in nicely, with fill nipple pointed to-wards the front.
The lower drain nipple is set close to the skid as well offering it some protection.

As you can see in my set-up I added a electric valve to drain the tank after each use. I hate to have to crawl under the jeep just to drain off any water condensation.
I also uses fuel line as my main air line. It will hold up longer than strait air line since it is designed to take extreme weather and all sort of road oils.
The dump valve is out of MacMaster Carr, the best place to buy your air line/gas line is from Evco house of hoses. Take a look at my home page for other ideas as to how to run your air lines and such.

Wow, that looks great. How well does the electric valve work for purging the tank? Will the servo open under pressure? Not to be a pain, but could you send me a schematic/diagram of the layout of your design? I would greatly appreciate it. I am a little nervous about tackling this, and any information I could replicate would make it much easier.
