I have an 87 Wrangler 258 5 spd. Pretty sure its a Peugot AX-? Transmission. It has 200000 Miles on it, and the Tanny shop at my last fluid change said he was surprised to see it still working, said they usually dont last more thatn 175K miles...
Of course Im not going to replace it til it dies on me (he said it will start with 2nd gear not being accessible). So far so good.
QUESTION:
Do I have to put the same one back in?

A rebiult is $1100 @ collins bros and nevermind the New Venture products...

So what are my options when this thing goes out?

thanks

It's the Peugeot BA10/5, no AX in the transmission model. You can swap in another Peugeot or upgrade to an AX15 that is found in mid-'89+ jeeps. Swapping in the AX15 will require the correct bellhousing and either the transfer case for the AX15 or a different input shaft for your transfer case.

If you upgrade to the AX15, get the '94+ model that has the external clutch slave.
