poping out of reverse on 87 wrangler

Every time I back up have problum with it piping out of gear any ideals anyone

sound like your shift rod linkage needs ajusted.

Do you have the 4.2L 6cyl engine? If so my '88 with the same Peugeot BA10/5 transmission did the same thing. It did fine if I held it in reverse. I think the only fix is a rebuild or replacement of the transmission.

If you have put a body lift on it check to see if the shifter is hitting the floor .

Yes has a 4 in body lift if I slam it in reverse it wont pop out I need to look and see if it is hiting and thanks everone

4" body lift???? wow man, you sure that is safe? it seems like any kind of sudden stop and the bolts are shearing off

Yea I had to cut some of the metal so it would go all the way in gear works great now
