Power Steering Coversion

I was going out the the used jeep parts place in town to pickup a few things for my project. One of the parts included a dropped pitman arm for my cj. I heard someone say in another post that a zj or an xj pitman arm works so thats wat i was gonna go and look for. My question is if i have the chance to pickup all the steering components from either a zj or an xj can i mount those into my cj for power steering? If it Would work what should i look to pay for it all?

I doubt that the boxes are interchangeable as far as mounts go. Some of the pumps were different too. Get a box for a CJ and the engine brackets for the pump. The hoses and pump can be bought new for reasonable prices. I gave away my box, but have heard of them going for $100 or less. The hoses can be acquired from Napa for about $25. I'm not sure what the pumps run, but they shouldn't be all that bad for a reman unit. You may have to E-bay the pump brackets. You are going to need a new belt too.
It's a pretty simple swap once you get all the parts.

The XJ and ZJ arms work on Wranglers, but I would be hesitant to put money on one towards a CJ. The XJ provides a little drop over a stock Wrangler arm, and the XJ arm drops even more.

You're better off getting donor power steering from a CJ.

I got a 92 YJ power steering pump with pitman arm on it for sale, not sure if it will fit but let me know if you want it....

2 8" ProComp 130 Light covers

What you asking for it? Shipping would have to go to 86404 LHC AZ. Thats if it will work.

What kind of steering setup does your CJ have now? Isn't it that old Ross cam and lever setup? It's gonna take a swap kit or some custom fabbing to put any Saginaw system under there, none of them bolt up.

Im not sure what setup it is but it is really simple looking. Steering wheel goes down into a box, then a rod goes down from there to the axle. Which is conected to 2 other arms that go to each tire. I really want to put power steering in it, and i dont really mind custom fabbing something up and welding it in there.
