We have our next run scheduled. We will be going up High Point Truck Trail through Palomar Divide Truck Trail. This trail is rated as easy, and completely stock capable.
High Point Truck Trail leads us up to 6,142 feet. It crosses back and forth between San Diego County and Riverside County. At the top, we will reach oak trees for a nice shaded area. The gate for the final 1/4 mile up to high point is closed to motorized vehicles.
After High Point, we will come down using the Palomar... Divide Truck trail, airing up at some mine diggings before getting on Palomar Divide Road which snakes back down meeting with Highway 79 near Holcomb Village.
This trail is 23 miles of forest service road. In many spots, the road is wide enough for faster traveling. Palomar Divide Truck Trail follows the top of the ridge. This trail will take about 3 1/2- 4 hours to complete.
The meeting place will be just east of the stop sign for Highway 79 and Highway 371. For an easy GPS address, the Aguanga Post Office address is 45600 Highway 79 Aguanga, CA.
If you are taking I-15 North, exit Highway 79 when you first come down the hill from the border patrol checkpoint. Keep going approximately 18 miles. When you reach the stop sign, go another few hundred feet to the dirt parking area on the right. The entrance to the trail is just a few hundred feet more. GPS coordinates are 33.440 N 116.860 W. We will air down and disconnect here, then get right on the trail.
On the day of the event, we will post contact numbers for those that are running late, or get lost.
